My goal is to provide your child with a positive experience in music education, to guide them in learning to their potential.
ENROLLMENT: applies
to the school year (Fort Worth ISD School Calendar) plus a minimum
of
5 lessons during the summer
ENROLLMENT FEE: $20.00 MUSIC DEPOSIT IS REQUIRED with the
registration form. When the $20.00 is depleted, an additional amount is billed
to help finish the year. At the end of May,
any unused portion of the deposit will be returned to you (if you are not
continuing with piano for the next school year).
TUITION:
30
minute lesson is $115/month
45 minute lessons is
$126.50/month
Tuition
is due and payable in advance at the first lesson of each month. Academic year is 33 lessons. Summer lessons
are charged per lesson. This is an
annual commitment.*
LATE FEE: $15.00 for accounts not paid by the 15th
of the month, deducted from $20 music deposit. Tuition must be paid by end of
month to continue lessons.
HOLIDAYS: observed
will be LABOR DAY, THANKSGIVING WEEK
WINTER
AND SPRING BREAK according to Fort Worth ISD School Calendar.
MISSED LESSONS: The lesson time is your
reserved time throughout the year, from September through May, it cannot be
used for any other reason; therefore,
there are no make-up lessons or credits given for lessons missed by the
student. During the summer, lessons are
scheduled on a flexible basis to allow for individual vacation times. The
lesson time is only a portion of
what is covered by the tuition fee. If
you are sick, please stay home. In
the case of teacher illness, or an ice day, your teacher is allowed to cancel
one of these lessons. Any additional lessons missed by the teacher will be
made-up or credited to your account.
PRACTICE: Piano lessons are an extension of your child’s
education, therefore practice is expected to have the same priority as
homework. DAILY practice is
necessary. To help self-discipline and
good work habits, it is suggested that a regular time for practice be set aside
EACH day. Parents
must agree to monitor student’s practice.
SUMMER LESSONS: Students must take a minimum of 5 lessons in the summer to maintain
your place in the Fall Schedule.
PIANO: Be certain
that your piano is in good condition and tuned once a year. It is difficult to enjoy playing on an out of
tune instrument. A parallel experience
might be riding your bicycle with a flat tire.
It would work but you won’t enjoy it.
PUNCTUALITY: is
expected, time will not be extended for late arrivals. In case I have an
emergency and have not been able to make contact with you, please make sure I
am home before leaving your child.
METRONOME: is REQUIRED! If you do not have a metronome,
please call me concerning the type to purchase. Quartz is best. (Credit card size is not
recommended)
WHAT DOES THE TUITION COVER ?
- Time spent with the student – private lesson
- Lesson preparation and planning/bookkeeping
(usually 1 hour of preparation for ½ hour lesson)
- Studio expenses (photocopies, instrument
maintenance)
- Continuing education, conventions, workshops,
conferences that keep the teacher current with new methods and findings in
pedagogy
- Teacher’s time spent selecting new music to meet students increasing capabilities.
Music lessons are a lifetime investment. Remember
… the rule is….if my child practices he/she
will enjoy music, not if
my child
enjoys music, he will practice. Most
students enjoy playing
but not practicing.
One has to attain a certain proficiency before enjoyment will come from
practicing.
LESSONS
WILL GO MORE SMOOTHLY IF:
·
All music assigned, arrives with the student
·
Nails are SHORT, hands are clean
·
No food, gum or drinks allowed in the studio – students coming from
school, pack a snack to eat in the car.
TEACHER: has the
responsibility to provide an atmosphere for learning. Professional standards will be maintained. Definite goals
will be established for each student. I will continue to further my teaching
skills by belonging to professional organizations, attending workshops, reading
professional publications, and engaging in other activities leading to
professional growth.
PARENT: Have your child play for you a few times each
week. We all like to perform, to be
successful and hear “Praise”.
It
is my pleasure to be your Child’s teacher. Thank you for your support and
continued interest in your child’s musical education. Please feel free to call or e-mail any
problems that arise.
